Edition of 6
Histories of civic generosity in Auckland form part of the artistic research for Oscar Enberg’s forthcoming exhibition, The prophet, the wise, the technician, and the Pharisee, December 2015 to February 2016. Enberg’s edition features an archival photo reproduction of Indian elephant Jamuna and her mahout (trainer and keeper) Ater Ali, taken from the Sir George Grey Special Collections at Auckland Libraries. Jamuna was the star elephant at Auckland Zoo from 1923 - 1965 and was purchased with a donation made by local businessman and philanthropist John Court.
