@@@@@@@ (Everything I Will Never Know)
9 - 30 July 1999
'Imagine your thoughts, and half thoughts, having a physical presence. Cross this with a utalitarian architectural space.' That's how Auckland artist describes his massive installation, perversely titled @@@@@@@ (Everything I Will Never Know). Made of cut and facetted strand board, the mutated building is fragmented, chaotic, and viral. It's a building in the process of reconfiguring itself, decomposing and recomposing itself, simultaneously logical and illogical—cancer by numbers. According to the artist, it is the latest in a series of installations that 'imagine an intersection between architectural structures and the structures of the mind.'
