Still from video

In the past few years, artist Diego Marcon has gathered hours of analogue video footage from across Italy. The video archives belong to different individuals who entrust their memories on video to Marcon. Through the eye of the videocamera, we see different ways of recording family life: children growing up, summer holidays, snow falls and sunny beaches.

Each tape has a focus, a genre, an obsession, the presence or the absence of someone or something. In Marcon's hands the footage is treated with the utmost consideration, the amateur material is edited in length but remains respectful of the interests that first inspired the filming.

SPOOL is an ongoing work that so far comprises of seven (video)tapes, at Artspace a loop of Tape 04 .Giulio, 2010 and Tape 05 .Elena, 2011 will be on view.
