Sarah Rose and Scott Rogers

11 May – 8 June, 2013

For their project in the Mezzanine, Sarah Rose and Scott Rogers will present a new single-channel video. The work, entitled Oasen, wanders through a cluttered labyrinthine space, encountering unexpected combinations of images and objects. A voiceover narrative reviews the footage, speculating on the fictions and realities layering the space. The atmosphere is dreamlike and claustrophobic. Concerned with re-directing assumptions about its location, Oasen edges the limits of systems and explores the temptation to deliberately misunderstand meaning and reference.

Sarah Rose is an artist based in Scotland and New Zealand. She graduated from the Glasgow School of Art MFA in 2012. Exhbitions include Transmission Gallery, Glasgow; Flip Projects, Toronto; Artissima, Turin. With Scott Rogers, she recently presented the exhibition Occasional Fix at Dog Park Project Space, in Christchurch.
