Jennifer Mason

Borborygmus

2 – 31 May

Concerned with investigations into aspects of the body and functional systems, Jennifer Mason’s practice mixes the abject with a playful, humorous touch. Mason has prepared a new work especially for the Artspace Mezzanine. Her inspiration is perhaps hinted in the title, Borborygmus - the scientific term for stomach rumble. The work draws on sculptural form language developed in her graduate project; interconnected objects in a flesh tone palette. Small screens, assimilated within the installation, display Mason’s exploration in new avenues of performance.

Mason holds a Post Graduate Diploma (2013) from Elam School of Fine Arts. Her solo shows include Physical Structures (2012), Corban Estate Arts Centre and New Spaces (2011), St Paul Street Gallery 3. Jennifer won the Premiere Award at the Walker and Hall Waiheke Art Award in 2012 and was recently included in the group show Size Matters at Fuzzy Vibes.
